  5. Program Setup
  6.  
  7. The maintenence mode of Night Watch is available only when 
  8. User ID "SYSOP" is used with its corresponding password.  
  9.  
  10. Your first step in setting up Night Watch will be to add 
  11. an alternate UserID & Password for yourself.  You will use 
  12. this User ID & Password when you want to access your 
  13. system without entering the maintenence mode.  Select the 
  14. "Add User" option and enter your User ID and Password.  
  15. You may wish to add User ID's and Password's for other 
  16. authorized users at the same time.

  18. For complete protection, Night Watch should be run from your
  19. AUTOEXEC.BAT file at system startup.  Before installing Night
  20. Watch in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file you should test the program 
  21. to be sure that you know your UserID & Password.
  22.  
  23. To test the program, run Night Watch and enter each valid 
  24. UserID & Password. Also test the screen saver by running 
  25. Night Watch without entering any keystrokes for approximatly
  26. 2 minutes. The screen saver should activate after 1 minute of
  27. inactivity and should remain active until a key is pressed.

  29. After you are confident that Night Watch is operating 
  30. properly on your computer, Edit your AUTOEXEC.BAT file so 
  31. that it runs Night Watch before executing any shell programs
  32. such as DosShell or Windows.  This way Night Watch will run 
  33. each time your computer is started.

  35. Maintenence Options
  36.  
  37. Options are available to add, edit and delete authorized
  38. users from your system.  If you accidently delete the 
  39. "SYSOP" User ID, it will be automatically recreated with
  40. the default password of "SYSOP" the next time Night Watch
  41. is run.  In addition, the "SYSOP" password can be changed
  42. only after registration of this program.  This feature is
  43. designed to prevent shareware vendors and distributors from
  44. changing the default password and inadvertently rendering the
  45. program useless.

  47. The Security Log option lets you view and edit the access log
  48. which is maintained by the program.  The access log contains
  49. time stamped entries for all attempts to access your system.
  50. You should periodically edit this log file to remove older
  51. data and maintain it at a file size of less than 32k bytes.

  53. Program Registration
  54.  
  55. This program is distributed as shareware.  You are granted a
  56. limited license to use this program for an evaluation period
  57. of up to 30 days. If you continue to use this program beyond
  58. the evaluation period, you must license it by paying the 
  59. registration fee of $15 to 'Otto-Williams Ltd., P.O. Box 794,
  60. Lanham, MD 20703-0794, USA.

  62. An order form may be printed by pressing the F2 key when in
  63. maintenence mode and selecting the "Print Order Form" option.
  64. Site licenses are available at substantial savings.

  66. Once you have received your software license number, you must
  67. enter your license number into the program.  Press the F2 key
  68. when in maintenence mode and select the "Enter License No."
  69. option.  After entering your license number, select the
  70. "Edit User" option and change the password for User ID
  71. "SYSOP".
